Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools

Location: Bedford
Pay: £90–£140 per day (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting confident, reliable and adaptable Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Bedford.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, or anyone with previous experience working with young people who is looking to develop their skills within a school environment.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes when the usual teacher is unavailable. Lessons will generally be pre-planned, allowing you to focus on maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students complete the work provided.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-set lesson plans and learning activities.
  • Supervising classes across a range of subjects and year groups.
  • Maintaining good classroom behaviour and dealing with issues appropriately.
  • Ensuring students remain focused, engaged and on task.
  • Supporting students with their work where appropriate.
  • Creating a calm and positive classroom environment.
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson progress and student behaviour.
  • Following school policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to manage a classroom effectively.
  • A professional, reliable and positive attitude.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different school environments.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviour.
  • A genuine interest in supporting students and their education.
  • An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one.
