Cover Supervisor – Secondary School

Day-to-day placements with potential for permanent position

We are currently seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to work within secondary schools in Bath. This role is ideal for individuals who have classroom experience but do not hold a formal teaching qualification. It offers flexible day-to-day placements, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-set work in the absence of the class teacher. You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning and ensuring a positive classroom environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supervising whole classes during teacher absence

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Ensuring students remain on task and engaged in their learning

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on lesson progress

You may also be required to support students in smaller groups or on a 1:1 basis, depending on the needs of the school.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged students

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • Confidence leading a classroom independently

  • A calm, professional and adaptable approach

  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) (desirable but not essential)

  • An interest in pursuing a career in education (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
