Core Subject Tutor
Job description
We are currently looking for a dedicated Core Subject Tutor to join a welcoming secondary school in Rochdale, supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 on a full-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced tutor, teacher, teaching assistant or graduate with strong subject knowledge who enjoys working closely with pupils and helping them make real academic progress.
The Role
As a Core Subject Tutor, you will:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support across KS3 and KS4.
- Support pupils with core subjects such as English, Maths and Science.
- Help students prepare for GCSEs, assessments and mock examinations.
- Adapt sessions to suit individual learning needs and abilities.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage confidence in their learning.
- Work closely with teaching staff to monitor progress and identify areas for development.
- Support pupils who may have gaps in their knowledge or require additional academic intervention.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong knowledge of at least one core subject.
- Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
- Is confident supporting students across KS3 and KS4.
- Can engage and motivate pupils who may lack confidence in their studies.
- Has excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Is patient, approachable and passionate about education.
- Has a genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
Teaching experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate, provided you have strong subject knowledge and experience supporting young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
