Classroom Assistant

We are seeking a committed and resilient Classroom Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs alongside a range of additional needs. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, working with children and young people aged 5 to 18 across both primary and secondary settings. Working hours are 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

You will be joining a well-established and highly supportive education setting that is known for its nurturing ethos and child-centred approach. The environment is structured, calm and inclusive, with a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour and individual progress. Staff work collaboratively and are well supported by experienced leadership and specialist teams.

Student Needs

Pupils are supported with a range of needs including:

• Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASD)

• Physical Disabilities (PD)

• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils within the classroom and during activities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support

• Encouraging engagement, confidence and positive behaviour

• Supporting emotional regulation and social development

• Working closely with teachers and specialist staff

Experience Required

• A minimum of 6 months childcare experience, particularly supporting children or young people with SEN needs

• A patient, calm and adaptable approach

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
