School Caretaker/ Premises Assistant

 

Location: Penarth, Cardiff

Salary: £98.72/ day

Contract Type: Full time

 

We are looking for a reliable and dedicated caretaker to become a part of our multidisciplinary school team. The role involves working Monday-Friday and ensuring the school grounds are kept safe and maintained. Ysgol Y Deri is a specialist school for pupils aged 3–19, supporting learners with a wide range of additional needs. The school provides a high-quality, inclusive environment with modern facilities, where every pupil is supported as an individual to help them develop, achieve, and thrive.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a reliable and proactive Premises Coordinator (Caretaker) to support the day-to-day running, maintenance, and security of the school’s sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Opening and closing school buildings and ensuring site security
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Responding to maintenance issues and emergencies
  • Supporting health and safety compliance across all sites
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for pupils, staff, and visitors

 

This role involves working across multiple school sites, requiring flexibility and strong organisational skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
