BSL Level 1 Teaching Assistant

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and caring Teaching Assistant with BSL Level 1 to support students with hearing impairments in the classroom. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their British Sign Language journey who is eager to develop their skills while making a positive impact on students’ learning and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities

Support students with hearing impairments in class and during school activities

Use basic BSL to aid communication and understanding
-
Work alongside the class teacher to adapt learning materials where needed

Provide 1:1 and small group support
-
Encourage student participation, confidence, and independence

Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements
-
BSL Level 1 qualification (essential)

Experience working with children or young people
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Patient, supportive, and enthusiastic approach

Experience in a school or educational setting
-
Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
