Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Impact Every Day!

Teaching Personnel are looking for a resilient, reliable and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist PRU setting in Port Talbot. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity where you’ll support young people who need structure, guidance, and consistency to thrive.


About the Role

You’ll be working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, providing tailored support to help them re-engage with education and achieve their potential.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

✅ Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or within small groups
✅ Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
✅ Creating a safe, positive and structured learning environment
✅ Working collaboratively with staff and support teams
✅ Encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence in learners


What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
Essential experience working with challenging behaviour
Experience within PRU, SEN, alternative provision or behavioural settings (desirable)
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient mindset
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
⏳ A reliable, consistent and committed approach
❤️ A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
