Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Location: Caerphilly (CF83)
Contract: Temporary / Supply (Part-Time or Full-Time, Term-Time Only)
Pay: £90 per day (with increase in April 2026)
Start Date: ASAP / March 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within a secondary school mainstream setting in Caerphilly. This role involves supporting students who may experience behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs, helping them remain engaged in lessons and develop positive learning behaviours.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, and pastoral departments to promote a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.
No direct classroom experience needed! Just passion for EDUCATION!
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs.

Deliver engaging pre-set lessons across a variety of subjects when required, ensuring smooth classroom delivery.

Manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies and the school’s behaviour policy.

Support teachers in maintaining a calm, focused, and productive learning environment.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and pastoral departments to support pupil progress.

Encourage motivation, resilience, and active participation among students.

Build positive relationships with students to support emotional development and wellbeing.

Monitor and record student behaviour and progress where required.

Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Experience
-
Experience working in a secondary school or with young people in education, youth work, or mentoring roles.

Interest or background in psychology, sport, youth work, or behaviour mentoring.

Experience supporting students with SEMH or SEND needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
