Teaching Personnel are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Carmarthen. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity where you'll support young learners who benefit from additional guidance, structure and encouragement to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

You'll be working closely with primary-aged pupils who may experience social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), helping them to develop positive relationships, regulate their emotions and engage successfully in learning.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

✅ Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups
✅ Using positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
✅ Creating a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment
✅ Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent role model
✅ Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external agencies
✅ Encouraging confidence, resilience, social skills and independence in young learners

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
Experience working with primary-aged children
Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional learning needs
Experience within a PRU, SEN school, alternative provision or behavioural setting (desirable)
Strong behaviour management skills alongside a patient, nurturing and calm approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
⏳ A reliable, consistent and committed attitude
