Job description

A Primary School in Little Lever are looking for a part time, experienced KS1 Teaching Assistant to help with Behaviour in Year 1.This is a welcoming, caring and harmonious school that provides an inclusive, vibrant, learning community that values diversity and challenges any kind of discrimination.

The two-form entry school has a large number of children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and are looking for a nurturing and calm individual, with a high level of understanding, to help these children settle in to school life. The head teacher is looking for an individual who has a number of behaviour management strategies to deliver high quality, flexible provision for these learners. Due to their lack of understanding, some of these children can become disruptive and sometimes violent and will need to be removed from the situation, to a calmer environment.

As you will be working predominantly in Year 1, a good level of Phonics knowledge is needed as you will be required to deliver a balance of classroom based and small group support in order to ensure that the language barrier is removed as quickly and effectively as possible. The school follows the Read Write Inc. scheme of learning, but experience of this is not essential.
