Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Tottenham. This is a full-time position starting Septemeber 2024 and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of £85 - £105 per day
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students to improve their behaviour and engagement with learning. Your responsibilities will include:
- One-on-One Mentoring: Providing individualized support to students who need help managing their behaviour and emotions, helping them to develop coping strategies and positive behaviours.
- Small Group Sessions: Leading small group interventions focused on social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
- In-Class Support: Assisting teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
- Monitoring Progress: Keeping detailed records of student behaviour and progress, and reporting regularly to teachers, parents, and senior leadership.
- Behaviour Plans: Developing and implementing behaviour management plans tailored to individual student needs, in collaboration with teachers and other support staff.
- Crisis Management: Responding to behavioural incidents and providing immediate support and intervention when necessary.
- Parental Engagement: Communicating with parents and carers to keep them informed of their child's progress and to enlist their support in behaviour improvement strategies.
- Professional Development: Participating in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in behaviour management and mentoring.
Requirements:
- Experience working with secondary school students, particularly those with challenging behaviours.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in education, psychology, or a related field are advantageous.
