Behaviour Mentor – (SEND Provision)
Location: Bridgend
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM - no weekends!
Contract Type: Full-time and part-time available
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our specialist provision supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The provision is a maintained special school located in Bridgend. It serves pupils ranging from ages of 5-19 with a wide range of additional needs, including social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This role will be to support pupils in Key Stage 3 who display behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties, enabling them to engage positively with learning, follow school expectations, and develop self-regulation skills. A Behaviour Mentor will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN support to help pupils succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
As a behaviour mentor, you will:
- Provide structured support to pupils with behavioural challenges
- Be comfortable working 1:1 or in small-group support for pupils with behavioural needs
- Implement and model positive behaviour strategies across the school day
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and academic engagement
- Build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
- Contribute to the holistic development of learners, promoting resilience and self-esteem
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced working with secondary-aged pupils (Key Stage 3 preferred)
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Background in a hands-on role e.g. drama, sport, coaching, care.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of trauma, SEMH needs, or additional learning needs
- Trained in behaviour management, Team Teach, or trauma-informed practice

- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one - we can help you apply!)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
