Behaviour Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our supportive school team. This role involves working closely with children and young people with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, and other behavioural challenges.

About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised intervention plans
- Support pupils in regulating emotions and developing positive coping skills
- De-escalate challenging situations using calm and consistent approaches
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external agencies
- Encourage engagement in learning and promote positive behaviour choices
- Act as a positive role model at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, trauma, or behavioural needs (school or alternative provision experience desirable)
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice (desirable but not essential)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to inclusion and restorative approaches

A good sense of humour and the ability to remain optimistic are highly valued in this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
