Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant (Challenging Behaviour)
Location:Bristol and Bath

Salary: Day Rate 

Contract Type: [Full-time / Part-time 

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our school team. This role involves supporting students who display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills. You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where all students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, social skills, and positive behaviours
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support individual learning plans
  • De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour (school-based or similar setting preferred)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to remain professional under pressure
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or youth work
  • Experience with SEN, SEMH, or autism
  • Training in behaviour management techniques (e.g., Team Teach)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
