An Alternative Learning Provision are looking for Behaviour Mentors to work 1:1 with pupils across all age groups. The young adults at this school can display challenging behaviour and at times be confrontational.  Pay will be based on experience but will range from GBP68 - GBP80 a day. Previous experience is desired but not essential; a sports, psychology or mental health support background can all be advantageous for the role.

The School: The Behaviour Provision caters for pupils of secondary age that may be diagnosed with autism or co-existing conditions including ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, Tourette’s syndrome, epilepsy and or challenging behaviour. The school is easily accessible through public transport and has parking on arrival for those that drive.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children and young people either in education or youth/support work/prison/secure unit roles.
  • Descalation training. Not essential but desirable
  • Mental Health First Aid trained desired
  • Confident to work on your own initiative, as well as contributing to a team
  • Good understanding of the National Curriculum at a secondary level - this role is working with 10 - 18 year olds
  • Confidence to manage challenging behaviour and re-engage students who are disaffected and not currently engaged in their education
  • Be able to participate in any extra-curricular activities required
  • Be willing to support students off-site where required, to try and re-engage them and encourage positive attendance records.

The ideal Behaviour Mentor will be enthusiastic and show great behaviour management skills. You will be confident and not be fazed by challenging behaviour in the classroom. Resilience is key for succeeding in this role. You will be expected to work between 8:00am-3:30pm. The school is run by a successful team of supporting staff.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
