We are now currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in [area]. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour and personal development.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who may require additional support with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. You will build positive relationships with pupils and help them develop the confidence and strategies they need to succeed in school.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
• Supporting children with challenging or disruptive behaviour.
• Helping pupils develop positive coping and emotional-regulation strategies.
• Building trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.
• Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff.
• Supporting pupils to engage positively with learning and school routines.
• Helping to implement individual behaviour and support plans.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating pupils' progress.
• Maintaining a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working with children in a school, youth work, childcare or similar setting.
• Experience supporting children with behavioural or additional needs.
• A patient, calm and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to remain positive and consistent when dealing with challenging behaviour.
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.

Experience working with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable experience will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
