Autism Learning Support Assistant – SEN School

Post: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Birmingham

Contract Type: Long term

Contract Hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm

Salary: £80-£90 per day/PAYE 

Post Start Date: September 2024

A Special School provides holistic provision for young people aged 4 up to age 16 with Autism and a range of learning and communication difficulties. We are seeking passionate individuals to join our team, who have experience working with young people with Autism.

The successful Autism Learning Support Assistant will have experience in working with children or adults with additional needs and will be competent in delivering multi-sensory learning experiences based on individual Education Health and Care Plans. Working alongside SEN teachers and other Autism Learning Support Assistants, you will provide general care and welfare to students with ASD, while supporting their learning and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment.

Job Description – Autism Learning Support Assistant

  • Autism Learning Support Assistant
  • Supporting students with Autism and other associated challenges
  • Work with students with ASD, supporting their learning and providing general care and welfare

  • Support classroom management and supervise students with ASD, maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment

  • £80-£90 per day (depending on experience)

Person Specification – Autism Learning Support Assistant

  • Previous experience working with students with ASD
  • Knowledge of strategies to support the teaching and learning of students with ASD
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN would be an advantage
  • Good communication skills
  • Committed and reliable
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Have energy and enthusiasm

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
