Rate: £110–£130 per day

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and highly skilled Assistant SENCO to join a specialist girls’ SEMH school in LS24, where safety, relationships and trauma-informed practice underpin every aspect of school life.

This long-term, temp-to-perm role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who have experienced trauma, adversity and barriers to learning. You will work closely with the SENCO and wider inclusion team to ensure students receive personalised, consistent and nurturing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the SENCO in coordinating high-quality SEND provision across the school

  • Help design and implement trauma-informed, relational strategies for SEMH learners

  • Work with teaching and support staff to ensure personalised learning plans are effectively delivered

  • Assist with EHCP processes, annual reviews, assessments and referrals

  • Build safe, trusting relationships with students, families and external professionals

  • Track progress and adapt interventions to support engagement, emotional regulation and learning

  • Provide guidance, coaching and CPD to staff on SEND, SEMH and trauma-informed practice

About You

You will be:

  • Passionate about inclusive practice and girls’ SEMH education

  • Experienced in supporting pupils with SEMH, trauma histories, attachment needs and complex barriers

  • Knowledgeable about SEND legislation, the graduated approach and therapeutic strategies

  • Emotionally resilient, reflective and calm under pressure

  • An excellent communicator who works effectively within multidisciplinary teams

  • Highly organised, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
