Job description

ASC Support Assistant – Dawlish, Devon 

Teaching Personnel is recruiting ASC Support Assistants to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition in schools across Dawlish and the surrounding areas.

This role focuses on supporting pupils who may experience difficulties with communication, social interaction, sensory processing, and emotional regulation. You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis to help them access learning, feel secure, and build confidence within the school environment.

Role: ASC Support Assistant
Pay: £95–£105 per day
Start date:  ASAP
Contract:  Full-time, term-time only
Hours:  Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:45 pm

The role includes

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
  • Supporting communication, social skills, and engagement with learning
  • Helping pupils manage sensory needs using structured routines and agreed strategies
  • Supporting emotional regulation and reducing anxiety
  • Implementing EHCP targets, individual support plans, and behaviour strategies
  • Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and self-esteem
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCo, and specialist support staff

We are looking for candidates who

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with autism or additional needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Have transferable experience from care, youth work, psychology, speech and language support, or family SEND experience
  • Are calm, patient, and consistent in their approach
  • Understand the importance of routine, structure, and clear communication
  • Are passionate about supporting pupils with autism to reach their potential
