Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate ALN Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming and well-respected primary school in the Penarth area from September 2026.

The school has been recognised in recent Estyn inspections as a warm and caring environment where pupil wellbeing is a key priority. This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) on both a 1:1 basis and within small group settings. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the class teacher and ALNCo to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop socially and emotionally within the classroom environment.

The school is seeking an individual who is patient, nurturing, and passionate about supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Building trusting relationships and creating a consistent, supportive environment will be central to the role.

  • Providing tailored classroom support for pupils with ALN
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting with differentiated learning activities
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and outside professionals where required

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional learning needs, although applicants from care, support work, coaching, or youth work backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. Strong communication skills, resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude are essential.

  • Competitive weekly pay
  • Ongoing CPD and specialist ALN training opportunities
  • Long-term placement opportunities
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
