Academic Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) - Year 6
Location: Havant
Start Date: ASAP after Easter
Contract: Full-time, Summer Term
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Havant who are looking to appoint a dedicated Academic Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil on a 1:1 basis.
This role involves working closely with a lovely and engaging pupil with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. While he presents some challenges, he responds well to positive relationships, consistency, and encouragement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both his academic progress and emotional wellbeing as he prepares for the transition to secondary school.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 classroom support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs
- Supporting engagement in lessons and encouraging positive learning behaviours
- Helping to build confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies
- Creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs (school-based or similar)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive and adaptable attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting children to succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
