Year 2 Teaching Assistant | 2:1 Pupil Support | Aintree
Location: Aintree, Liverpool
Start date: Post October half-term 2026 (November)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday - 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Temporary to permanent

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term position where you can make a real difference to two pupils?
Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming primary school in Aintree, Liverpool, to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant from October half-term 2026.
You will work on a 2:1 basis, supporting two pupils in Year 2 throughout the school day. The role will initially be offered on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with the intention of becoming permanent for the right person.
The role will involve:
- Supporting two Year 2 pupils with their learning and engagement
- Helping the pupils access classroom activities and follow instructions
- Breaking tasks into clear, manageable steps
- Providing encouragement, reassurance and consistent support
- Supporting the development of confidence and independence
- Helping with phonics, reading, writing and early mathematics
- Using visual resources and adapted activities where appropriate
- Supporting positive behaviour, classroom routines and emotional regulation
- Monitoring progress and feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO
- Working closely with school staff to provide consistent support
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Have recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant
- Are confident supporting pupils within KS1, ideally Year 2
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with children
- Have a calm, patient and consistent approach
- Are able to adapt activities to meet individual needs
- Work well alongside teachers, support staff and the SENCO
- Are reliable and able to commit to a long-term position
- Would be interested in progressing into a permanent school role
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous, but applicants with strong, relevant school experience will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
