1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 3
Location: Middlesbrough
Part-Time Position
Are you a patient, resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning?
We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil within a welcoming primary school in Middlesbrough. This rewarding part-time role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, provide consistent support and help a child achieve success both academically and socially.
The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 3 pupil who requires additional support with behavioural, emotional and learning needs. You will play a key role in helping them engage positively within the classroom environment and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Implementing behaviour support strategies in line with the school's policies
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
- Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging positive behaviour choices
- Assisting with classroom learning and engagement in lessons
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
- Promoting the pupil's confidence, independence and social development
- Maintaining a calm, consistent and supportive approach at all times
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in supporting children with challenging behaviour
- Calm, patient and resilient in their approach
- Confident managing behaviours that may present barriers to learning
- Skilled at building positive relationships with children
- Understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Committed to helping every child achieve their potential
Previous experience within a primary school, SEN setting, alternative provision or behavioural support role would be highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
