Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and confident 1:1 ALN Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the NP10 area of Newport. This role requires a candidate with a strong classroom background and proven experience supporting children with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
The successful candidate must be confident working independently on a 1:1 basis and able to adapt their approach to support pupils with a variety of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties, and other additional support needs.
The Role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with ALN.
- Support pupils' learning, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
- Implement tailored support strategies and interventions.
- Work closely with teachers, ALNCOs, and other professionals.
- Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
✔ Previous experience working within a school classroom environment.
✔ Strong understanding of ALN and experience supporting pupils with a variety of additional learning needs.
✔ Confidence working independently on a 1:1 basis.
✔ Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
✔ Patient, resilient, and proactive approach.
✔ Available to start immediately or at short notice.
Registration & Compliance Requirements
To work through Teaching Personnel, all successful applicants must complete our full registration and compliance process, including:
✔ Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new DBS through Teaching Personnel.
✔ Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) if not already registered.
✔ Provision of professional references covering the last two years of employment or education history.
✔ Completion of all required vetting and safeguarding checks before being cleared for work.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
