1:1 Year 6 SEN TA

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team. This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a Year 6 pupil, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff, you will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment whilst supporting the pupil's educational and emotional development during this important transition year.

1:1 Year 6 Teaching Assistant

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.50 - £15.75 per hour
Contract: Full-time, term-time only (8.30am – 3.30pm)
Start Date: Monday 2^nd November 2026 or ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil throughout the school day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
• Support the development of literacy, numeracy and classroom engagement.
• Implement strategies outlined in the pupil's support plan or EHCP where applicable.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
• Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals and external agencies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEN, would be advantageous.
• A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
