Job description

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (KS3) – Full-Time Role 

Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Contract: Full-time, term‑time
Location: Stratford-Upon-Avon 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS3 student on our semi‑formal pathway. This role is ideal for someone experienced in supporting pupils with ASD, emerging communication needs, and sensory regulation.


About the Student

  • KS3 learner accessing a semi‑formal curriculum
  • Communicates using emerging language and an AAC device
  • Receives ongoing input from Speech & Language Therapy (SLT)
  • May experience occasional sensory-based behaviours or dysregulation
  • Thrives on routine, predictability, and strong rapport
  • Benefits from consistent modelling of SLT strategies and following their EHCP targets

- Due to the student’s specific care needs and positive response patterns, this post requires a female member of staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Model communication strategies and SLT‑recommended approaches
  • Support use of an AAC communication device
  • Implement EHCP outcomes and follow specialist guidance
  • Assist with sensory regulation plans and support the student during sensory outbreaks
  • Build a strong, safe, trusting rapport
  • Work collaboratively with SLT, teaching staff, and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Support routine, transitions, and structured learning

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS for both Child & Adult Workforce, ideally registered on the Update Service
  • Strong ability to build and maintain rapport, especially with students who rely on consistent relational trust
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, communication needs, or sensory profiles
  • Understanding of semi‑formal pathways and EHCP implementation (or willingness to learn)
  • Confident in following specialist guidance from SLT and other professionals
  • Calm, patient, nurturing, and consistent in approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
