Full-Time 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: Castle Cary
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £90–£95 per day
Hours: Full-time
This rewarding role will involve providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil within the classroom, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support throughout the school day.
Whether you have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or have worked with children in another capacity—such as youth work, sports coaching, childcare, nursery settings or mentoring—we would love to hear from you.
The Role:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil within a primary classroom.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
- Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working in a school is desirable but not essential.
- Experience supporting children in any setting is highly valued.
- Patient, empathetic and enthusiastic about helping children succeed.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.

Vetting Requirements:
All applicants will be subject to Teaching Personnel's rigorous safeguarding and compliance procedures, including:
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and registration on the Update Service.
- Right to Work checks.
- Professional references covering recent employment.
- Completion of safeguarding and compliance training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
