Primary School Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support
Location: Cardiff
Start date: ASAP
Hours: Full‑time, term‑time only
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a welcoming primary school in Cardiff. This role is ideal for someone who is confident, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and engagement in school life.
The Role:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to a child with behavioural or social‑emotional needs.
- Help create a safe, nurturing and engaging classroom environment.
- Use a patient, proactive and enthusiastic approach to support learning and behaviour.
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider team, maintaining strong communication.
- Follow the school’s policies, safeguarding procedures and behaviour strategies.
Requirements
- Experience in a primary school or working with children is desirable — but not essential for the right person.
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning, confidence and development.
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Willingness to complete all required safeguarding and training modules.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
