Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential? We are seeking dedicated and resilient Youth Behaviour & School Support Mentors to work within specialist schools supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, mentoring, education, support work, coaching, care, or behaviour support who are looking to have a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.

The Role

As a Youth Behaviour & School Support Mentor, you will work closely with students who may display challenging behaviours or require additional emotional and educational support. You will help create a positive learning environment, build trusting relationships, and support pupils both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEN and SEMH needs within specialist school settings.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils to promote engagement and confidence.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Support learning activities alongside teachers and support staff.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and personal development.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar settings.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
