Job description
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Ely, Cardiff, seeking a resilient and passionate Year 6 Teacher to join their team from September.
This role is ideal for someone confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, and additional learning needs (ALN). The class requires a strong, consistent presence and a teacher who can build trust, set clear boundaries, and create a calm, structured learning environment.
You will play a key role in preparing pupils for transition to secondary school, both academically and emotionally.
The Role Will Include
- Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to mixed abilities
- Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (SEMH)
- Using de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour management daily
- Working closely with TAs, ALNCo, and external agencies
- Building strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff
- Creating a safe, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience with challenging behaviour / SEMH / ALN (highly desirable)
- Strong behaviour management and resilience
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Ability to engage disengaged learners and build rapport quickly
- ECTs welcome if confident and well-supported

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
