Year 6 Teacher – Long-Term Maternity Cover (Potential to Extend)
Location: Barry
Start Date: 1st June
Contract: Long-term (Maternity Cover, with potential extension)
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday

We are currently seeking a confident and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Barry from 1st June. This is a long-term maternity cover position, with the opportunity to extend beyond the initial placement for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives in upper Key Stage 2 and is confident delivering engaging lessons while preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching to a Year 6 class
  • Plan, prepare and assess work in line with the national curriculum
  • Support pupils in preparation for SATs and end-of-year expectations
  • Create a positive and structured classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and leadership teams

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners of all abilities
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teaching

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
