Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Preston area. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a forward-thinking school that is committed to delivering high-quality education and fostering a positive learning environment.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons while ensuring all pupils are supported to reach their full potential.

Year 5 Teacher Required

Location: Burnley
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner for transition)
Contract: Full-time – MAT cover
Salary: £120 - £150 per day then AWR is addressed after 12 working weeks

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively
  • Differentiate learning to support a range of abilities and needs
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff
  • Maintain strong behaviour management and classroom organisation

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable)
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills
  • Is passionate about raising attainment and supporting pupil development
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Is committed, reliable, and adaptable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
