Year 1 Teacher (Full-Time)
Location: Kirkby, Merseyside (L33)
Start Date: September 2026
Pay Rate: £135 – £232.56 per day
Role Type: Long-Term
Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and community-focused Roman Catholic primary school in Kirkby to recruit a committed and experienced Year 1 Teacher to start in September.
This school is well-regarded locally, known for its strong leadership, inclusive ethos and commitment to pupil development, both academically and personally. Pupils are described as enthusiastic learners, and the school prides itself on creating a supportive environment for both staff and children.
The Role
You will take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering high-quality lessons that support pupils transitioning from EYFS into KS1. A key part of this role is delivering effective phonics sessions using Read Write Inc, so prior training and confidence with this scheme is essential.
As part of the recruitment process, an observation lesson in Read Write Inc will be required prior to placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum
- Deliver daily Read Write Inc phonics sessions with confidence and consistency
- Assess and track pupil progress, adapting teaching accordingly
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with support staff, SLT and parents
- Uphold strong behaviour management strategies and school values
Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Is fully inducted (ECTs who have not completed induction will not be considered)
- Has recent experience teaching in Key Stage 1
- Has received training in Read Write Inc phonics and can confidently deliver sessions
- Demonstrates strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Is reliable, proactive and passionate about primary education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
