Job description

Year 6 Primary Teacher – Full Time
BH1 (Bournemouth area)
Paid to scale (MPS/UPS)
Start Date: September 2026

If you’re a teacher who genuinely loves that unique Year 6 buzz—the mix of challenge, growth, SATs pressure, and those “lightbulb” moments—this role could be exactly what you’re looking for.

We’re working with a warm, welcoming primary school in the BH1 area that is looking for a Year 6 teacher to join their team this September. This is a school where staff are supported, ideas are valued, and people pull together—especially during those busy spring and summer terms!

What this role feels like
This isn’t just about getting pupils through SATs (although you’ll absolutely be supported to do that well). It’s about guiding a class through their final year of primary school—building their confidence, helping them mature, and making sure they leave ready for the next step.

You’ll have the freedom to bring your personality into the classroom, while also working alongside colleagues who understand the realities of Year 6 teaching and will support you every step of the way.

What they’re hoping you’ll bring

  • Experience in Upper KS2 (Year 6 experience is ideal, but not essential)
  • A good understanding of SATs—but also the perspective to see beyond them
  • Strong classroom presence with a calm, consistent approach
  • Someone who can build relationships quickly with pupils and parents
  • A team player who’s happy to share ideas and support others

What you can expect from the school

  • A genuinely supportive leadership team who understand workload
  • Colleagues who collaborate rather than compete
  • Pupils who are engaged, lively, and full of personality
  • Space to teach creatively—not just “teach to the test”
  • Ongoing CPD and opportunities to grow professionally

The practical bits

  • Full-time role
  • Paid to scale (MPS/UPS)
  • September start
  • Based in BH1

If you’re looking for a Year 6 role where you’ll feel supported, trusted, and part of a team—rather than just another teacher in a classroom—we’d love to hear from you.

Send over your CV or get in touch for an informal chat.
