We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Work Skills Teacher to join a specialist post-16 education setting supporting young people aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This rewarding role involves delivering a personalised curriculum designed to prepare learners for adulthood, employment, and independent living.

You will support students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties, speech, language and communication needs, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and associated behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and practical work skills, employability and independence programmes tailored to individual learning needs.
• Teach vocational, life skills and preparation for adulthood pathways, helping learners develop the confidence and skills required for future employment and community participation.
• Support students in developing social communication, emotional regulation, teamwork and workplace behaviours.
• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons using a range of multi-sensory teaching approaches.
• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, parents and external agencies to ensure positive outcomes for learners.
• Monitor progress, set targets and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification 
• Experience working with learners with SEND.
• A passion for helping young people develop employability, independence and life skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
• An understanding of Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) outcomes and person-centred approaches would be advantageous.
