Teaching Assistant – Reception – Weymouth

Are you a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Weymouth?

A lovely school in the Weymouth area is looking for a General Classroom Teaching Assistant to join their team from after October half term. The successful candidate will be based primarily within Reception, supporting children with their learning, development and day-to-day classroom routines.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to become part of a welcoming and supportive school environment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide support across the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning and development.
  • Working with children on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Helping to create a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Supporting children's social, emotional and communication development.
  • Assisting with classroom activities and daily routines.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and independence.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other members of staff.
  • Supporting the general needs of the Reception classroom.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is:

  • Experience working within Early Years or KS1 is preferable.
  • Caring, patient and enthusiastic when working with young children.
  • Confident supporting children both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, proactive and adaptable.
  • Passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational setting is desirable.

A DBS registered on the Update Service is preferable, although candidates without one may still be considered subject to the relevant safeguarding checks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
