Welsh Teacher

Location: Pontypool

Pay rate: Starting from £157.66 (paid to scale)

Start date: 15th April 2024

Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm.

Teaching Personnel is currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Welsh Language Teacher to join our team at a well-respected Secondary school in Pontypool, Wales. In this role, you will be instrumental in instilling a passion for the Welsh language and culture in our students. You will be teaching students aged 11-16.

The school have a well-developed pastoral system and excellent staff-student relationships based on mutual respect and strengthened through involvement in many extra-curricular activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for Qualified teachers or newly qualified teachers to gain valuable experience. While experience in teaching Welsh as a second language is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engaging and interactive Welsh language lessons for students at different levels to facilitate effective learning and progress.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that correspond with the curriculum and cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and mutual respect.
  • Regularly assess student performance, offer feedback, and implement strategies to support their individual learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve and expand the Welsh language program.
  • Stay updated on the current curriculum requirements.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) are encouraged to apply.
  • EWC registered – or willing to register.
  • Enhanced Childs DBS and update service.
  • Up to date safeguarding (provided by Teaching Personnel).
  • 2 references from your most recent employers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
