Welsh-Speaking Unqualified Teacher

Location: Cardiff (CF23 / CF5 / CF14)
Pay: £110 per day via PAYEE

Working Hours:

  • Full-time: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 15:00
  • Part-time: Flexible days available

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker with an interest in education? We are currently recruiting full-time and part-time Welsh-speaking Unqualified Teachers to work in Welsh-medium secondary schools across Cardiff.

This role is ideal for:

  • Recent graduates looking to gain classroom experience
  • University students seeking flexible work around their studies
  • Individuals considering a career in teaching or preparing for a PGCE
  • Anyone passionate about supporting young people in Welsh-medium education

This is a fantastic opportunity to build valuable classroom experience, develop key teaching skills, and make a meaningful impact in local schools.

About the Role

As a Welsh-Speaking Unqualified Teacher, you will:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and keep students engaged with their work
  • Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
  • Support students, including those with additional learning needs (ALN)
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Ensure a safe, organised learning environment
  • Report any concerns or incidents to school leadership or department staff

What We’re Looking For

  • Fluent Welsh speaker with strong communication skills in Welsh and English
  • Confident managing groups of young people
  • Adaptable and reliable across different school environments
  • A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for supporting students
  • Understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing

Requirements

  • Passion for education and supporting young learners
  • Strong communication, mentoring, or leadership skills (e.g., coaching, youth work, tutoring)
  • Willingness to complete required training and safeguarding checks
  • Enhanced DBS check (assistance provided)
  • EWC registration (guidance available)
  • Two recent references
  • Ability to travel to schools across Cardiff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
