Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based)
Location: Peterborough and surrounding areas
Hours: During school hours (term time only)
Contract: Flexible / Part-time 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced 1:1 Tutor to support pupils across the Peterborough area in both home and school settings. You will deliver personalised learning to help learners re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve academic progress.

This role is suited to qualified teachers or experienced education professionals with strong classroom experience and a passion for supporting individual pupils.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition in core subjects (mainly English and Maths, KS1–KS4 depending on placement)
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual pupil needs
  • Deliver sessions in pupils’ homes or school settings during school hours
  • Track and report on pupil progress
  • Build positive, supportive learning relationships
  • Ensure full compliance with safeguarding and child protection procedures

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ teaching experience in a school or educational setting
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum
  • Experience working with children or young people on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Ability to deliver engaging and differentiated learning
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
