Job description

Job Title: 1:1 English & Maths Tutor
Location: Nuneaton and surrounding areas (Warwickshire)
Contract Type: Part-time / Full-time / Flexible

About the Role

We are seeking passionate and dedicated English and Maths tutors to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition to students in Nuneaton and nearby areas. This role involves delivering personalised learning sessions to support pupils who may be catching up on missed learning, preparing for SATs or GCSEs, or requiring additional support outside of mainstream education.

Sessions may take place in students’ homes, schools, or agreed community settings.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a young person’s academic progress and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition in English and/or Maths.

  • Plan engaging and structured lessons based on each learner’s needs, ability, and goals.

  • Support students preparing for SATs, GCSEs, or functional skills qualifications.

  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

  • Provide clear feedback and maintain accurate progress records.

  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and schools where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or proven tutoring/teaching experience.

  • Strong subject knowledge in English and/or Maths.

  • Ability to differentiate lessons to suit varying abilities and learning styles.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Reliable, professional, and committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport preferred due to travel between locations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
