Primary & Secondary 1:1 Tutor – Newmarket

Location: Newmarket and surrounding areas

Hours: Flexible, Part-time (Monday to Friday, school hours)

Pay Rate: Competitive (dependent on assignment and Local Authority)

About the Role

TP Tutors is looking for experienced Primary and Secondary 1:1 Tutors to deliver personalised educational support to students in homes or school settings across Newmarket and the surrounding areas. This role focuses on helping pupils who may be out of mainstream education, require academic intervention, or have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, tailored lessons in English, Maths, and core curriculum subjects aligned with the UK National Curriculum.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet each student's individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Support vulnerable learners and students requiring targeted intervention.
  • Track academic and personal progress, completing detailed session logs after every session.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, Local Authorities, and families to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence and independence.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications: Fully Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

Experience: Previous teaching or tutoring experience delivering the UK National Curriculum.

Skills: Excellent communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach to supporting learners.

Compliance: An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the legal right to work in the UK.

Travel: A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle is desirable due to travel between tuition locations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
