Are you an experienced teacher or tutor looking to make a real difference to young people's education?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking passionate and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised tuition to children and young people across Cambridge.

Tuition is delivered in pupils' homes, schools, or alternative education settings during school hours, supporting learners who require additional educational support due to medical needs, SEND, anxiety, exclusion, or other barriers to learning.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored one-to-one tuition that helps learners regain confidence, make academic progress, and achieve their full potential.

Pay

Competitive Pay, depending on experience, qualifications, subject specialism, and the learner's individual needs.

Working Pattern

  • Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities
  • Tuition delivered primarily during school hours (Monday to Friday)
  • Long-term and ongoing assignments available
  • Travel to pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings across Cambridge is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to each learner's individual needs.
  • Plan and deliver lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum or personalised learning plans.
  • Adapt teaching methods to support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
  • Monitor learner progress and complete session reports following each tuition session.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, local authorities, and other professionals.
  • Encourage learners to develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience teaching one or more of the following: Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel reliably between tuition locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • The right to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, and speech and language needs.
  • Experience delivering tuition in pupils' homes, schools, or alternative provisions.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Location

This role covers Cambridge. Applicants should be willing to travel to pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings within the local area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
