Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Job Type: Flexible, Temporary (with potential for permanent opportunities)

Make a Difference Through One-to-One Tuition

TP Tutors is seeking dedicated and experienced tutors to provide personalised one-to-one tuition to children and young people across the Birmingham area. Tuition takes place in pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings during school hours, supporting learners with additional academic needs, exam preparation, or specialist SEND provision.

Whether you're a qualified teacher, experienced tutor, or SEND specialist, this is an excellent opportunity to use your expertise to help learners build confidence, overcome barriers, and reach their full potential.

The Role

As a Tutor, you'll deliver engaging, personalised lessons designed around each learner's individual needs. You'll support pupils in developing key skills, improving confidence, and achieving their educational goals.

You may support learners across Primary and Secondary education, including GCSE, Functional Skills, Alternative Provision, and SEND.

Subjects

We welcome applications from tutors who can teach one or more of:

English • Mathematics • Science • Literacy & Numeracy • Functional Skills • Primary Curriculum • GCSE Subjects • Humanities • Modern Foreign Languages • Computing • Creative Arts • Other National Curriculum Subjects

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition tailored to each learner's needs.
  • Plan and prepare high-quality lessons.
  • Assess learning and provide clear written feedback after each session.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to different abilities and learning styles.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, schools, and professionals.
  • Support learners to improve academic attainment and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Knowledge of Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND education.
  • Strong lesson planning, assessment, communication, and behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable travel access across the Birmingham area.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • QTS, PGCE, or another recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting learners with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, Dyslexia, SLCN, EHCPs, SEND, Alternative Provision, or gaps in education is highly desirable.

Location

This role covers Birmingham and surrounding areas. Tutors must be able to travel reliably to pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings during school hours, Monday to Friday.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
