Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Year 1)

Blackpool (FY3)
Full-time / Term-time
Start date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Blackpool (FY3) to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 1 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and resilient individual who is passionate about making a genuine difference in a child’s early education.


About the Role

You will be working closely with a class teacher and the school’s wider support team to help a pupil engage positively with learning and develop emotional regulation, confidence and independence. The child requires tailored support throughout the school day, including during transitions and structured learning activities.


The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children in a school or educational setting
  • Be confident working 1:1 or in small groups
  • Have a calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Be able to build strong, positive relationships with children
  • Understand the importance of consistency, routine and clear boundaries
  • Be proactive, reliable and enthusiastic

Experience supporting children with SEMH needs is preferred but not essential – this role would also suit candidates with relevant experience and a strong interest in behaviour support and child development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
