Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Location: Luton
Salary: £80 – £89.38 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary by up to 45 minutes), Monday–Friday, term time only
Contract: Full-time

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Luton. You will work closely with pupils who have additional needs, offering meaningful support both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN.

  • Assist learning during lessons, break times, and lunchtimes.

  • Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities.

  • Help maintain a safe, organised, and engaging learning environment.

  • Promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every pupil feels valued.


Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with SEN children (desirable but not essential).

  • Be patient, reliable, and committed to supporting young people.

  • Show strong initiative and a proactive approach.

  • Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Have permanent UK residency (essential).

Safer Recruitment

As part of our safeguarding commitment, all applicants will be required to complete:

  • An Enhanced DBS check (Update Service — can be arranged via Teaching Personnel).

  • Two recent professional references (covering the last 24 months).

  • An Overseas Police Check (if applicable — for candidates who have lived abroad for 6+ months within the last 5 years).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
