Behaviour Support Officer

Location: Penarth

Hours: Fixed Term, Full-Time (working 35 hours a week) during term time only

Starting Daily Rate: £70 per day 

Teaching Personnel work in partnership with a residential special school based in Penarth, which caters for pupils between the ages of 7 and 19, who have an emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and a range of associated needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will also supervise lunches, some breaks and accompany pupils on school trips and activities.

You’ll be working 39 weeks per year on a term time only basis.

How will you make a difference / Job Description

• By supporting the teacher in the classroom to deliver lessons
• By meeting pupils as they come into school each day
• By helping with setting up the classroom
• By building relationships with pupils and their families to support their learning
• By assisting teachers with planning lessons and assessing pupils
• By supervising at lunchtimes
• By accompanying pupils on school trips and activities

The Successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant will:

• To be empathetic, tolerant and have a positive attitude
• Experience of working with children and young people with additional needs
• GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths or the equivalent
• Good computer literacy
