Experienced Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Location: Yeovil, Somerset
Setting: Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) – Year 11
Contract: Full-time

We are working in partnership with a specialist education provision in Yeovil that supports pupils in Year 11 who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. This small Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) has a maximum of 15 pupils, allowing for a highly personalised and supportive approach to learning and behaviour management.

The school is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs

  • Working closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning and behaviour support

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support

  • Helping pupils re-engage with education and work towards positive outcomes

  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques

  • Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within a PRU, SEN, SEMH or alternative provision

  • Is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour

  • Is calm, resilient, and patient, with a positive and proactive attitude

  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
