Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Assistant Roles available – Immediate Start!
We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across the south of Manchester, also covering the areas of Stockport and Bramhall. These roles are well suited to recent university graduates from any discipline, as well as individuals who are interested in moving into education or childcare and would like practical, school-based experience.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of the class teacher to support pupils during lessons and throughout the school day. This may include helping small groups of pupils with classwork, providing one-to-one support when needed, preparing learning materials, and assisting with general classroom organisation. Many roles can involve supporting pupils with additional learning needs, helping them to stay engaged and make progress in line with their individual targets. The work is varied and hands-on, offering a clear view of how schools operate on a day-to-day basis.
We are looking for individuals who can communicate well, follow instructions, and maintain a professional and reliable approach to their work. A genuine interest in working with children is essential, and any experience—whether through volunteering, mentoring, coaching, or similar—will be helpful, though not required. Schools value Teaching Assistants who are patient, consistent, and willing to learn, and these roles offer plenty of opportunity to develop those skills.
This position offers regular, term-time working hours and ongoing support from experienced staff within the school. It is an excellent option for those considering future training routes such as teacher training, educational psychology, or other childcare and education-related careers. Long-term placements and progression opportunities may be available for individuals who wish to build experience over time.
If you are interested in gaining practical, classroom-based experience, or already have experience working in education as a teaching assistant, please submit your current CV.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
