Contract: Full-time / Term-time only

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Northampton. Our setting works with students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education, providing tailored support to help them re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in both classroom and 1:1 settings

Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities

Help manage behaviour positively, following the school’s behaviour policy

Build positive, professional relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress

Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience

Contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a PRU, alternative provision, or SEN setting
-
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
-
An understanding of trauma-informed practice (desirable)
-
The ability to build rapport quickly and maintain professional boundaries
-
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
-
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Team Teach training or similar behaviour management training is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
