Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision

Location: Luton
Pay: £90 - £100 per day
Full-time | Term-time

Immediate Start

Alternative Provisions across Luton are seeking a resilient, confident Teaching Assistant to support young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, and additional learning challenges.

This is not a mainstream classroom.
It’s smaller groups, stronger boundaries, and real relationship-building.

You’ll provide 1:1 and small group support, help manage behaviour positively, and play a key role in re-engaging students who need structure, consistency, and someone who won’t give up on them.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs

  • Support pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, and learning difficulties

  • Help implement behaviour support plans and structured routines

  • Build positive, professional relationships with students who may be disengaged from education

  • Assist the teacher in delivering tailored and differentiated learning

  • Promote emotional regulation, engagement, and independence

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people (education, youth work, coaching, or care background welcomed)

  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a firm but fair manner

  • Builds rapport quickly and maintains professional boundaries

  • Is consistent, reliable, and emotionally resilient

  • Has a genuine desire to support vulnerable learners

Previous experience in Alternative Provision, PRUs, or SEND settings is desirable but not essential.
