Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision
Location: Luton
Pay: £90 - £100 per day
Full-time | Term-time
Immediate Start
Alternative Provisions across Luton are seeking a resilient, confident Teaching Assistant to support young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, and additional learning challenges.
This is not a mainstream classroom.
It’s smaller groups, stronger boundaries, and real relationship-building.
You’ll provide 1:1 and small group support, help manage behaviour positively, and play a key role in re-engaging students who need structure, consistency, and someone who won’t give up on them.
The Role

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs
-
Support pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, and learning difficulties

Help implement behaviour support plans and structured routines
-
Build positive, professional relationships with students who may be disengaged from education
-
Assist the teacher in delivering tailored and differentiated learning

Promote emotional regulation, engagement, and independence
About You
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with young people (education, youth work, coaching, or care background welcomed)

Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a firm but fair manner

Builds rapport quickly and maintains professional boundaries
-
Is consistent, reliable, and emotionally resilient
-
Has a genuine desire to support vulnerable learners
Previous experience in Alternative Provision, PRUs, or SEND settings is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
